Summary:

 

Plans, directs and controls the arrangement of driver work schedules and vehicle utilization to ensure safety, quality and timeliness. Continuously monitors and communicates with drivers, customers and Sentinel management to safeguard against delivery issues and runouts. Ensures excellent customer service.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

    • Continuously analyzes and monitors progression of planned driver workloads via TMW, Telapoint, PeopleNet, Samsara and TotalMail. Verifies that all drivers are logged in and mobilized, forecast all delivery times and make modifications as necessary to ensure loads stay on schedule and do not go into runout status.
    • Ensures each TMW order has BOL, Net, and Gross gallons in TMW prior to driver log out.
    • Reviews TMW and manually updates and closes orders not closed by drivers.
    • Analyzes Telapoint and ensures orders are closed and each contain BOL, Net and Gross gallons.
    • Reviews Vector system and advises drivers to follow up in regard to missing or substandard scanned paperwork images.
    • Analyze driver delivery schedules and forecast specific loads drivers will not be able to complete during their shift. Coordinate with Inventory Manager to remove, redispatch or roll load to next shift.
    • Manage driver/load optimization and identify add-on load opportunities when time permits in driver shifts.
    • Advise and direct drivers on load fits, rack changes or updated fuel mixes.
    • Investigate and rectify driver diversions and report DER as needed in TMW, Telapoint, etc.
    • Identify and report runouts to Dispatch Manager.
    • Provide ETA’s to customers when requested for loads on the current shift.
    • Coordinates with Inventory Manager on any issues that may impact scheduling. Assists in informing customers regarding delays (rack, breakdowns, etc.) or supply issues that may impact our ability to deliver within a requested window or before a run-out (ATG sites).
    • Teams with Terminal Managers to investigate and address driver/customer issues or complaints.
    • Collaborates with TMS Group and Management to resolve errors generated by TMW, such as expiration dates on trailers and/or equipment.
    • Serves as the primary person in the Dispatch environment for data entry into TMW, ensuring the entry and integrity of data in a timely manner.
    • Communicates continuously with Inventory Managers and will provide occasional back up resources as needed by management.
    • Collaborates with Inventory Managers to update Pass down notes at the end of each shift.
    • Performs other duties as may be required.

 

 

Requirements:

 

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred
    • Two or more years working experience as a Dispatcher in the transportation industry
    • Previous experience in a hazardous materials environment preferred
    • Previous knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, FHWA and HM and other regulations related to the transportation of chemicals and petroleum products helpful
    • Experience in using new and emerging technologies.
    • Ability to communicate in English with individuals, using a mix of verbal and written communication styles.
    • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
